I went on a study trip to Berlin with my school from Monday to Thursday. We took the bus early Monday morning and we arrived in Berlin early evening. We stayed at a hostel in downtown Berlin, the location was good because it was easy to get around from there. The first evening, we went for a walk about the city and found a nice burger place where I had dinner with some of the girls. Later, a girl from my class and I went to Primark, for the first time, to shop. We were so overwhelmed by the cheap prices and big selection that we didn’t know where to start. I got some nice things from Primark but it was hard to constrain myself. When I came back to the hostel I decided to go to bed because I was so tired from travelling all day.
Tuesday started with a not so impressive breakfast at the hostel before our trip to Cecilienhof in Potsdam. After the guided tour at Cecilienhof we went back to Berlin where we were divided into smaller groups, my group had to go to the area in Berlin called Friedrichain. First thing we had to do was to get lunch before the presentations that some of us had to do. For lunch I had a falafel plate, it was so good!
After our lunch we went to see different places in Friedrichain and ended the walk at East Side Gallery which is the largest remaining piece of the Berlin Wall. I did a small presentation about the Berlin Wall for the group with facts about it. It was sad that the weather was grey, rainy and cold that day when we had to walk outside for a long time, later we had a joint dinner with the rest of the school.
After dinner I went to see my good friend Sivert who I hadn’t seen in 3 years. It’s funny that it doesn’t seem like it’s 3 years since we last met. We went to Roses, a gay bar in Kreuzberg, which had a very special look, there was pink plush on the walls and vinyl on the ceiling. I was so happy to see Sivert again and we talked about Daniel and I visiting him soon.
The next day was the big museum day, we had to go see 2 museums but some of the others were too tired from partying so they stayed at the hostel. I was looking forward to the Burlesque show I had planned to see with some of the girls later, but we didn’t go because they were feeling sick and hungover. I decided to treat myself with the new MAC Viva Glam lipstick because I couldn’t go to the Burlesque show. Most people took it easy that evening because we had to leave the hostel at 8AM the next morning to see a concentration camp before going back home to Copenhagen.
It was good being back home again and seeing Daniel. I had a good and fun trip to Berlin but now I have holidays and some projects to work on.
