Autumn Holidays

Last week it was autumn holidays for a lot of schools and I’m off too this year. Last year my school didn’t have an autumn holiday at all but this year we did, and it was needed. We wanted to go somewhere for a short trip and only a short trip because we needed to have someone to babysit Nimbu while we were gone. It was the first time we had to be away from Nimbu, it was hard, and I missed him, but I knew he was taken good are of.

We decided to go to Bornholm, an island in Denmark, for 4 days. I will make a blog post only about our Bornholm trip, but it was a nice trip, and we had a good time.

The night before we left for Bornholm it was Kulturnatten (culture night) in Copenhagen. It’s an event where you buy a ticket that gives access to museums, art galleries and other cultural places that are a part of Kulturnatten. The places that are a part of the event were open from 8pm to 11 or 12pm only for this special event. It always takes place the Friday night before the school’s autumn holidays, and there are always a lot of people that participate. I think it’s a good event to have so people who normally don’t go to museums or art galleries get a change to try it for a cheap price and can try going different places. Because there are so many places that have open it is impossible to go see all places, so I will always recommend planning where you would like to go.

This year we went to Copenhagen Museum and saw their special exhibition they have at moment, about the 90’s. A part of the exhibition are 500 time capsules, that people around Copenhagen made in the 90’s. It was fun because both Daniel and I could recognize a lot of the things in the time capsules from our childhood.

After that we went to an art gallery called GL Strand, to see one of Daniel’s friend’s art exhibition. The last place we went we had to wait in line to get in, it was at Medical Museion. I can recommend going there if you are in Copenhagen, it is a very fascinating museum, but it is not for the faint hearted.

Tivoli is open for the Halloween season, that ends the second week in November. I went there to see the Halloween decorations in daytime and another day in the evening when it was dark outside. I prefer the decorations in the evening because it looks better at night with all the lights and it just feels more cosy.
